Overview: This webinar will explore barriers to MSM of Color achieving optimal HIV health outcomes and will seek to provide ways to work through these challenges. The intersection of race and sexual orientation are important, but further intersection with age and gender are also important factors. Of particular importance is the collision of visible and invisible identities, the way people are treated, and the way that treatment affects further health-seeking behavior and access of care. Feeling safe and comfortability are important issues to be explored. Education or both patients and providers in these areas is also important and to be explored.
Presenters: Michael Hager, Amir Simon, Joey Pons, Brandy Oeser, Julia Schlueter, Nathaniel Hindley
Learning Objectives: Name three key barriers for MSM of Color to achieve optimal health outcomes. Discuss issues pertinent to the intersection of identities for race, gender, sexual orientation, and age. Describe one education strategy that will help providers provide the best HIV care for MSM of color.
